Ms. Smith is an associate with The Cooper Law Firm . Since 2004, Ms. Smith has dedicated her practice to representing individuals – including employees and consumers – in complex litigation against some of America’s largest companies. Most of these cases were class actions, in which Ms. Smith represented large groups of individuals harmed by this wrongful conduct.

Prior to joining The Cooper Law Firm, Ms. Smith was an attorney at the nationally recognized law firms of Robbins, Geller, Rudman & Dowd (formerly Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins) and Scott+Scott. At both of these firms, she represented clients in complex class actions . Among her many cases, Ms. Smith successfully represented consumers against a company unlawfully charging fees through an “upsell” scheme and against a national credit card company that was deceptively charging hidden currency conversion fees.

Ms. Smith completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis with a degree in political science – public service. After working at the California State Capitol as a legislative analyst, she went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. At Hastings, Ms. Smith was the recipient of Equal Justice America fellowship where she advocated on behalf of women and children victimized by domestic violence. Additionally, Ms. Smith was a recipient of the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in legal writing and research and was a teaching assistant in legal writing for first year law students.

In addition to her extensive litigation practice, Ms. Smith has taught at a business school nationally recognized as a top producer of minority degree earners. While there, she developed a curriculum for and lectured on business law at the graduate level and volunteered her time working with graduate students on issues pertaining to tenants’ rights.
